Privacy Policy

Nepali Language Resource Center, NLRC, is committed to protecting our users' privacy. This section provides an overview on what information we may collect and how we use it.

Information we get from our users' use of the site is non-personally identifying information, such as browser type, approximate location, etc. We may collect this non-personally identifying information in order to improve our services and to provide a better user experience. We use Google Analytics as a third party tracking service to collect such non-personally identifying information. Please visit Google Analytics site for more information; Google also provides a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics tracking, which is available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

We do not disclose our users' information outside of NLRC.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file that is sent to a visitor's computer. When using our services without signing in, some of our online apps may use cookies to improve user experience.

Third party cookies and ads

Some of our pages may display ads from Google. Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings.

Information users provide to us directly

The site offers an option to sign up on our website in order to use our online apps. We also offer proofreading plug-ins for Google Docs and Microsoft Word word processors. When users sign up, or use the plug-ins, we collect their name and email address in order to identify users, to provide them with relevant and accurate content when they use our apps and to provide them with a better user experience. This information is not shared with other users. When users use the Web Editor of our proofreading app, a copy of their document is saved on our servers so that the users can access all of the documents that they have saved. This allows them to be able to save a document and work on it at a later date. Users can choose to delete their documents at any time.

The Google Docs add-on and the Microsoft Word add-in have access to the current document, which allows users to make corrections on their document based on suggestions provided by the plug-ins. The plug-ins retrieve the suggestions from our API endpoint. The plug-in's access is limited only to the current document on which the users want to run the plug-in.

The site also offers an option to users to provide comments on our various services. If their comments contain information that benefit other users or if they provide feedback about our efforts, we may edit and publish them on our website. If we publish them, we do not include email addresses. The users can set their profile to limit their information visible to other users, e.g., they can choose to display their Display Name rather than their name. If users have provided a Display Name, we use their Display Name instead of their name. If the users state not to have their comments published, we do not publish them.

Payment Information

When you subscribe to one of our services or make a donation, your payment is processed by our payment processor. To keep your financial information secure, we do not store your credit card information on our systems.

Login services

We use authentication providers for authentication to our services, e.g., users can use their Google account to log in. This allows us to delegate the responsibility of maintaining and securing user passwords to the respective authentication providers.

Changes

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. We will notify registered users about significant changes by sending an email to their primary email address or by providing a more prominent notice on our website.

Log in with Google

Contents

What does "Log in with Google" mean?

You can just click the "Log in with Google" link and you'll be logged in with one click.
If you're not logged in to Google already, you'll be taken to Google to log in. Google will then send you back to NLRC, letting us know that you're someone Google recognizes.

Can NLRC see my Google password?

NLRC will never see your Google password.
We will never ask you to enter your Google password on the NLRC website. You will always be sent to Google's website to enter your password and then sent back to NLRC.

How does "Log in with Google" work?

The first time you click the "Log in with Google" link, you’ll be sent to a Google page. You'll be asked for permission to let NLRC use your account as a way to log in. Once you've agreed to this, you'll be sent back to NLRC.
When this is done, you can log in to NLRC instantly whenever you're already logged in to Google.

Can I revoke this permission later?

Yes. The login process doesn't let us access any more information than you have given permission for, and you can revoke this permission any time from your Google account.
The things you do on NLRC will not appear on your Google account. You can still share or post things yourself if you choose.

Can I log in with Login Providers other than Google?

We plan to add other Login Providers. We will consider other Login Providers very carefully before adding them.
